PURPOSE:To simplify a structure of connection wiring for a spark plug with an optical fiber, by generating high voltage without entailing any radio interference with a laser and a piezoelectric element combined, in case of an internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam out of an oscillator 7 is controlled in its radiation period by a light chopper 9, and hits a light absorber 11 via an optical fiber 10, heating a packing material 12 being large in thermal expansion and heat conductivity, while a piezoelectric element 14 using zircon and lead titanate receives pressure because of a strain in the packing intercepted from heat by a heat insulating material 13, thus high voltage is produced at a resonant point of the piezoelectric element. And, with terminals 15 and 17, voltage is fed to a spark plug 16, causing it to generate an ignition spark. Thus, wiring for the spark plug is simplifiable and, what is more, an ignition coil can be made unnecesary. |
