The superstructure, on a bottom carriage, has a boom turntable, mounted on the carriage to turn about a vertical axis, non- rotatably connected to an ejector boom. An arm supports the bucket wheel, with counterweight, rotatable relative to carriage and boom, on a travelling excavator. The excavator arm (22) is mounted on the turntable (3) so as to rotate about an axis (32) offset towards the discharge end (9) of the ejector boom (6). The ejector boom may be made without counterweight ballast, with the excavator arm pivoted axis sufficiently offset-for the overall centre of gravity to remain constantly within the required area. Weight is reduced without any sacrifice in boom length. |
