PURPOSE:To improve the heat resistance of an optical fiber core by the constitution in which the outside of a stress buffer layer of a flexible resin formed around the optical fiber is coated with an FRP layer consisting of a thermosetting resin added with a white pigment. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber core is constituted by forming the pressure buffer layer 2 consisting of the flexible resin around the optical fiber 1 and coating the outside thereof with the FRP layer 3. Particles 7 of the white pigment are added and packed into, for example, the thermosetting resin 5 constituting the FRP layer 3 of such optical fiber core as shown in the magnified view of the part A of the layer 3. Then the greater part of radiation light 6a by a thunderbolt, etc. is reflected by the surface even if the light 6a is applied to the optical fiber core and therefore the internal buffer layer 2 is kept free from temp. elevation. The optical fiber core having improved heat resistance is thus obtd.
