In the connection of the ends of two successively supplied carrier strips equipped with labels, the rear side of the rear end of the leading carrier strip (2a) supplied from a carrier-strip supply position is connected in an overlapping relationship to the front side of the front end of the trailing carrier strip (2b). The so connected front end of the trailing carrier strip cannot come loose from the rear end of the leading carrier strip when the interconnected ends turn about a sharp label separator (1) of a label-attaching device, since the front end of the trailing carrier strip is covered by the rear end of the leading carrier strip. After the carrier strips are thus connected to one another at their ends, supports (5, 16) for the trailing and the leading carrier strip are changed over or displaced in order to bring the trailing carrier strip into the carrier-strip supply position. A continuously successive supply of labels is consequently possible as a result of the connection according to the invention of two successively supplied carrier strips equipped with labels. <IMAGE>
