PURPOSE:To obtain coke for blast furnace, which has a high strength and a good quality, by mixing a given quantity of breeze with coal powder having a high coefficient of expansion, granulating the mixture, mixing the granulated coal with raw coal powder, and dry-distilling the mixture. CONSTITUTION:2.5-5%, 42-Mesh or fine breeze is mixed with coal powder having a high coefficient of expansion in the presence or absence of a binder, and the mixture is granulated in the presence of an aq. binder soln. The granulated coal is mixed with raw coal powder and the mixture is dry-distilled to obtain the desired coke for blast furnace. Since the breeze and coal are pulverized and granulated, the distance between the breeze particle and the coal particle is shortened so that adhesion therebetween is improved and cracking around the breeze particle can be reduced. The particle size and the yield of the coke product can be controlled by controlling the quantity of the breeze to be blended.
