The invention relates to a direct-current motor 1 for winning machines in underground mining, in particular for drum shearers. The direct-current motor 1 fits tightly with its cylindrical casing 2 in a sleeve 3 which projects beyond the casing 2 on the motor side remote from the output shaft butt 6. Its bore 4 is closed off by a cap 8 through which the motor shaft 7 is passed. Furthermore, a brake 14 and a tacho-generator 16 are provided which are accommodated outside the sleeve 3 in a pressure-proof space 19 (concentric to the motor axis) of a cap housing 20 and are coupled to the motor shaft 7. The cap housing 20 centred in the sleeve 3 is equipped with a pressure-proof connection space 22 which adjoins the pressure-proof brake space 19 lying concentrically to the motor axis. Starting from the connection space 22, there is an electrical connection to the brush space 12 and to the brake space 19 of the direct-current motor 1 via one pressure-proof lead-through bushing 36, 37 each. Both lead-through bushings 36, 37 lie coaxially to one another and are accessible via a niche 28 which extends into the connection space 22 and is closed off to the outside by a cap 32. <IMAGE>
