The application relates to an external rearview mirror for vehicles, especially for automobiles, with a casing which accommodates an adjustable piece of mirror glass and has means extending round on its outside surface for collecting dirty water and for diverting the latter into the lower outside corner of the casing. In order to streamline such a rearview mirror in an especially advantageous fashion, provision is made according to the invention for the means for collecting the dirty water to be formed from two troughs which are arranged one behind the other in the direction of travel and are recessed in relation to the external surface of the casing.
