PURPOSE:To easily detect the presence of a water leak or its place, by measuring resistance generated between a fully disclosed cord and one part disclosed cords. CONSTITUTION:When a pipe line is laid under the ground, detecting cords 2-5, being adhesively attached placing outside their lead wire disclosed part in a headband shape adjacent to and along a pipe joint 11 of the pipe line by applying putty or the like, are buried with a pipe, and one end 12 of the detecting cord is disclosed above the surface of the ground. If water is started to be circulated by completing construction of the whole pipe line, the presence of a water leak or resistance between the whole part disclosed cord 2 and the one part disclosed cords 3-5, one ends 12 of which are disclosed above the surface of the ground in a part of each joint 11, is measured by a tester 14. The presence of the water leak can be decided by decreasing a resistance value between the cord 2 and the cords 3-5 due to the water leak because the dried soil contains water soluble sulfate and/or chloride. While the place of the water leak is known by detecting which cord causes a decrease of resistance among the cord 2 and the cords 3-5. |
