A decentralised and deterministic selection method for a user (A2, A4, A5) connected to a bus (B) is specified in which the users of the bus system indicate a transmission request by outputting the collision signal (C signal) on the bus. The period during which the collision signal is output by each user is selected in such a manner that each user of the bus has the possibility of preparing for the selection process.
