PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of easily printing desired images, by a method wherein a manuscript containing the desired images is previously passed through a printer to store the images, prior to printing. CONSTITUTION:Image information read by an image sensor 21 is stored in the form of matrix patterns in a memory 25 incorporated in the printer 2. On receiving a general image printing command from a main body 1, an image-controlling circuit 29 reads the information stored in the memory 25, and gives it to a buffer memory 27, whereby the image information stored in the memory 25 is printed. At the time of printing the images, the main body 1 outputs only the general image printing command, and the images are printed under control of a printer-controlling circuit 28 and the image-controlling circuit 29.
