PURPOSE:To recover a function of a token ring system by detaching an active monitor from a transmission line, when a fault has been generated in a repeater function of the active monitor. CONSTITUTION:A data terminal equipment monitors by a detecting part 6 whether data sent out by itself returns or not, processes it by a counter processing part 9, and in case many data do not return and a value of a counter has exceeded a prescribed value, it is recognized that it is a fault of a repeater function of an active monitor. Therefore, in a fault informing frame transmission processing part 8, an active monitor repeater function informing frame is generated, and transmitted to a ring transmission line 1 through a transmitting part 3. When the active monitor receives it, a faulty frame communication processing part 7 is started, and the active monitor recognizes that its own repeater function is faulty, executes access to a bias control part 21 in a receiving part 2, and detaches itself from the ring transmission line 1. |
