A desirably uniform traversing movement of the yarn guide (23) is achieved when the pivotable lever (3) moving the yarn guide (23) is moved reciprocally by two drivers (12, 13). This is under the condition that the drivers (12, 13) move synchronously in opposite directions at a constant angular speed on two circular paths (14, 15) located in the pivoting plane of the lever (3), and that, in continuous alternation, always one driver (12) is movable along on one side flank (16) and the other driver (13) subsequently on the other side flank (17) of the lever (3) towards the pivot axis (4) of the lever (3). The drivers are formed, for example, by the crank pins of two cranks which are connected to gearwheels of equal size which are in engagement with one another. <IMAGE>
