The invention relates to a method and a device for coating the surface of small components which are received in a perforated drum which is open at the top. The small components are painted during slow rotation of the drum located in a slanting position with constant changing of place within the heap when paint is introduced. After subsequent movement into the vertical position, excess paint is spun off by means of more rapid rotation.
