In an automatic feed apparatus for presses for sheet-metal working, a transporter is provided which, with the aid of suction devices (8) or magnets, picks up sheet-metal parts (9) one after the other from a stack (10). Occasionally, several sheet-metal parts (9) are connected at their burred edges or stick together. In order to make sure that no more than one sheet (9) at a time is picked up, at least one force transducer (3) is inserted between a basic part (1) connected to the motion drive and the sheet-holding carrying part (6) of the transporter. The weight picked up by the carrying part (6) is thus monitored. <IMAGE>
