PURPOSE:To detect easily a step distortion of a minute decoding section by inputting at random two digital patterns for optional adjacent decoding sections of a D/A converter to be measured, and measuring a decoding analog noise output. CONSTITUTION:A linearity of a minute section is measured by generating at a random period a digital pattern corresponding to two adjacent decoding sections, and measuring and comparing noise floors of each section. Two kinds of adjacent digital patterns are generated at a random period by a digital pattern generating circuit, and inputted to a D/A converter 2 to be measured. A noise meter 3 measures a demodulating output of the D/A converter 2. A control circuit 4 supplies a timing for operating the digital pattern generating circuit 1 and the D/A converter 2 to be measured, and also executes said control.
