In a nuclear plant having a safe building, there is provided as a transfer device for a spent fuel shipping flask (17) a carriage (1) having a basic frame (2), provided with wheels (7), and having a rocker (16) which is pivotably mounted on the basic frame (4) in an elevated support (14). The support (14) is situated about half the length of the shipping flask (17) above the basic frame (2), and the rocker (16) has a mandrel (25) which is anchored in its horizontal position to the basic frame (2). It can preferably be adjusted, which means that a crane can be spared. <IMAGE>
