The accumulator filling valve (23) is opened by the pressure source (3) as soon as this is switched on, so that the accumulator (22) communicates with the secondary chamber (45) by way of the brake circuit (I). When braking, the accumulator (22) is also filled in addition to the wheel brake cylinders and the master piston (14) covers a greater displacement travel. If, in the event of antilock, the reversing valve (19) connects the primary chamber (44) to a return vessel (17) for the purpose of reducing the brake pressure, the accumulator (22) has the advantage that it shortens the return stroke travel of the master piston (14) so that the necessary brake pressure reduction is not prevented by the emergency braking plunger (16). <IMAGE>
