PURPOSE:To obtain foamed polymer particles with reduced heat energy, by releasing particles of a polymer which contain an inorganic gas and have been heated to a temperature above the softening temperature from a pressurized zone into a lower-pressure zone in a separated state from each other. CONSTITUTION:Particles of a polymer which contain an inorganic gas as a foaming agent and have been heated to a temperature above the softening temperature are released together with a gaseous medium from a pressurized zone into a lower-pressure zone in a separated state from each other, using a fusion bonding inhibitor usually in an amount of 0.01-20pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. polymer. The polymer to be used is preferably a crystalline polyolefin resin. The fusion bonding inhibitor to be used is organic or inorganic fine particles unfusible at the foaming temperature; for example, particles of a metal compound such as aluminum oxide, and an organic compound such as a polyester.
