PURPOSE:To improve a magnetic characteristic and durability by uniting and joining core halves made of an amorphous magnetic alloy between thin copper or copper alloy films via a gap material sandwiching a glass film thereby forming a secure magnetic gap which obviates cracking and peeling. CONSTITUTION:The thin film 12 consisting of copper or an alloy of copper and Ni, Ti, Zn, etc. and the thin glass film 13 consisting of PbO-B2O3 and having 500-700 deg.C softening point are formed in this order on the butt surfaces of the respective C-shaped and I- shaped core halves 11, 11 made of the amorphous magnetic alloy. The thickness of the film 12 is made about 0.05-2mu and the thickness of the film 13 about 0.1-1mu. The core halves 11, 11 are butted to each other and glass grains 14 of PbO-B2O3 having 300-500 deg.C softening point are imposed on the gap 15 part, then the grains 14 and the layer 13 are heated to the softening point or above to unite and join the core halves and the films, by which a magnetic head is obtd. The films 12, 13 and the core halves 11 have nearly the same coefft. of thermal expansion. The film 12 absorbs the stress of the film 13 and the film 12 with the small specific resistance thereof sharpens the leak magnetic field from the magnetic gap 15, thereby improving an overwrite characteristic, etc. as well. The deterioration of the reproduction efficiency, etc. are thus obviated. |
