For a level control device for vehicles a level sensor is built into the vibration damper, especially of a spring strut. The level sensor comprises a reverberation sensor, which is arranged in a housing enclosing the piston rod. The housing is mounted on to the piston rod end of the cylinder of the vibration damper.
