PURPOSE:To improve the cutting quality of a polyester, by adding an organosiloxane compound to the reaction system in the production of the above polyethylene terephthalate modified polyester to which antistatic property is imparted by the addition of a polyalkylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:In the production of a polyester by polycondensing a terephthalic acid-based dicarboxylic acid component with an ethylene glycol-based glycol component, an antistatic property is imparted to the polyester by the addition of a polyalkylene glycol compound (e.g., polyethylene glycol). In order to improve the cutting quality which is adversely affected by the addition of the polyalkylene glycol component, about 0.1-10wt%, based on the polyester, polyorganosiloxane compound (e.g., polydimethylsiloxane or polymethylphenylsiloxane) is added to the reaction system before or during the polycondensation reaction to produce the purpose modified polyester.
