A safety platform for operating personnel on process machines consists of a plate (1) which forms a required area and of an electrical device which blocks the associated process machine as a function of a weight load on the plate. In order to simplify such a platform with respect to the mechanical substructure and in order to avoid the machine operator who is being monitored having the unpleasant sensation of standing on a plate which is supported in a moving manner, the plate (1) rests on at least one force-measurement transmitter (3, 4) which is mounted on a non-moving foundation (2) and is connected to an evaluation circuit (5 to 11). A plurality of force-measurement transmitters (3, 4) can be connected electrically in parallel. The weight monitoring takes place without any deflections of the plate (1) being detectable by human sensory organs. The limiting weight can be adjustable. <IMAGE>
