PURPOSE:To fully flat a seat without removing a head rest, by enabling the head rest to be moved into a seat back or onto the rear surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:Small motors 2, 3 are disposed in the frame 1 of a seat back 20, and are coupled with a guide pipe 6 and a shaft 10 through worm gears 4, 9 and worm wheels 5, 10. A head rest 7 is positioned above the seat back 20, having two legs 8 which are inserted in vertical pipes 6b and have their front ends inserted into guide sections 101 in the frame 1. A rack 8a in each leg 8 is meshed with each pinion 10a on the shaft 10. The legs 8 may slide through the vertical pipes 6b and the guide sections 101, and the shaft 10 may rotate in a transverse pipe 6a.
