PURPOSE:To make it possible to dispense with a sensor for detecting the presence and absence of printing paper, in a printing apparatus, by providing an automatic attracting switch turned ON and OFF in the second revolving region of a bale control lever. CONSTITUTION:When the separation and contact operation of a bale shaft 5 is performed without operating an automatic attracting switch 17, a bale control lever 16 is operated between X- and Y-positions of the first revolving region thereof. When the automatic suction switch 17 is operated, if the lever 18 is operated from the Y-position to the Z-position in such a state that printing paper 11 is preliminarily held between a platen 1 and a pressure roller 2, an automatic attracting switch kick-out part 18 presses the automatic attracting switch 17 to change over said switch 17 from an ON-state to an OFF-state. Then, a paper feed motor 19 is allowed to start rotation in a definite amount and automatic attracting operation is completed because said rotation in the definite amount corresponds to a paper feed amount generated when the platen 1 is rotated through a belt 20 and the first printing position of the paper 11 is opposed to the position of a printing head. |
