PURPOSE:To prevent the adhesion of unnecessary ink to the head end part of a line, by stably contacting a thermal transfer ink ribbon with recording paper by a thermal head before starting the wind-up of the thermal transfer ribbon. CONSTITUTION:Before the gear 26 meshed with the gear 25 directly connected to a wind-up roller 7 is meshed with the rack 27 arranged in parallel to a carriage 11 along the moving direction of said carriage 11 after the carriage 11 begins to move from a home position to an A-direction between the rack 27 and the gear 26, the gear 26 and the rack 27 is separated by a distance (a) sufficient to stabilize the pressure contact force of an ink ribbon 5 to recording paper 3 by a thermal head 18. Therefore, the wind-up of the ink ribbon 5 is started in such a state that the ink ribbon 5 is stably contacted with the recording paper 3 under pressure by the head 8 and no slip is generated between the recording paper 3 and the ribbon 5 and trouble, such that recording quality is lowered by the adhesion of unnecessary ink to the head end part of a line, is not generated. |
