PURPOSE:To provide a titled shield which welds uniformly a stud by making the distance between the central gas vent groove of an arc shield enclosing a stud terminal and the adjacent groove longer than the spacing distance between the grooves at both ends and moving a molten metal to both ends by the flow of the gas generated by welding. CONSTITUTION:The end of the L-shaped stud 1 projecting at the central part by a suitable angle beta contacts with the prescribed position of a base metal and the end thereof is enclosed of the arc shielding groove. Grooves 2 are engraved on the base metal side of the arc shield. The spacing distance l1 between the central groove 2 and the adjacent groove or the spacing distance 2l1' between the central groove 2c and 2d is made longer than the spacing distance l2 and l3 between the grooves at both ends. The molten metal is moved to both ends by the flow of the gas generated in the welding arc stage by which the stud end is uniformly welded. The same holds true of the plate-shaped stud 1. The molten metal is more effectively moved with the expanding part 4 at the bottom end of the arc shielding groove of which the ceiling is narrower at a suitable angle alpha the nearer the two ends.
