PURPOSE:To speed up the recovering operaion of an interrupter in flashover operation by allowing a photointerrupter for flashover annunciation provided to a monitoring steel tower to be reset from an observation post as to the flashover monitoring device whih uses an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The flashover monitoring device 40 is provided to the steel tower to be monitored. The monitoring device 40 photodetects light pulses for monitoring sent from a contralized observation post 30 through the optical fiber 60 and sends it back to the observation past 30 through the photointerrupter 43 and a reflecting plate 42. If a flashover occurs to the steel tower, a detection part 49 generates an output to trigger a flip-flop 48, so the photointerrupter 43 enters a transparent state to inhibit monitoring pulses from being sent back. The observation post 30 is provided with a function for sending out a reset pulse which is wider than the monitoring pulses. A reset pulse detection part 45 provided to the device 40 once detecting the reset pulse drives the flip-flop 48 to reset the interrupter 43. A detection part 46 detects a check signal sent out of the observation post and drives the interrupter 43 tentatively.
