HEAT-INSULATING BOX FOR MEMBRANE TYPE LIQUEFIED-NATURAL-GAS TANKER AND METHOD OF TRANSPORTING LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS WITH THE SAME

Perlite has been used as a filler for heat-insulating boxes for use in membrane type liquefied-natural-gas tankers. However, for further improving the heat-insulating properties of the filler itself, there is a desire for a new filler. As the filler for the heat-insulating boxes, expanded styrene resin beads containing no organic blowing agent are used. Thus, a heat-insulating box can be obtained which has satisfactory heat-insulating performance and enables use of a gas leak detection system. A reduction in the average bead diameter of the expanded styrene resin beads can improve heat-insulating performance.
