PATTERN BINARY-CODING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To extract features of even a low-contrast pattern precisely by selecting an optimum slice level for the binary coding of the pattern to be measured from pattern information used during pattern generation and coding a pattern signal into a binary signal. CONSTITUTION:The pattern information used for the generation of the pattern to be measured is stored in a storage device 1, whose contents are read out properly, so that a pattern generator 2 generates a pattern corresponding to the pattern to be measured. The output BP of the generator 2 is sent out to a control circuit 3. The circuit 3 sends the optimum slice level TH for the binary coding of the pattern IP to be measured which is obtained by a detector 4 to a fixed threshold value binary-coding circuit 5 on the basis of the output BP. The circuit 5 codes the pattern IP into a binary signal on the basis of the level TH and sends out the binary coding output JP of the measured pattern.
