PURPOSE:To obtain a record player whose pickup arm receives no effect of vibrations of a dust cover by providing movably a pickup arm and its driving part at the inside of the dust cover and fitting with a play the shaft providing to the cover or the driving part into the hole of the other. CONSTITUTION:When a record disk is played, a dust cover 3 is held up and the disk is put on a turntable 2. In this case, the lower part of a hole 9 formed to the cover 3 has a contact with the lower part of shaft 10 attached to a base 6 and holds up the base 6. Thus a pickup arm 4 attached to the base 6 is also held up. When the play of the record is started, the cover 3 is moved down to a position where the tip of the cover 3 touches the base 6. Then the shaft 10 attached to the base 6 is separated from the hole 9 of the cover 3. Then the cover 3 is moved down to its final position and closed.
