PURPOSE:To simplify processing, by expressing vehicle speed transition for a single sampling period within an error limit of the vehicle speed in 3 flags: acceleration, deceleration; no change CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer (MCU) 12 samples by a sampling period a vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed detector 2 through an interface circuit 11. Further, the MCU12 compares the vehicle speed with a previous sampled value (SD) stored in a RAM14, when a speed range of the previous SD and current SD lie on a speed level above by one or below by one, a flag shifted to the speed level above by one or below by one is stored in a memory pack a current SD in a RAM14. Further, when previous and current SDs lie within an allowable error limit, a check is made if ''no change'' flag is set in the RAM14 and if the result is in the affirmative, then the frequency of this particular flags is counted up and allowed to be stored in the memory pack 3. By repeating the above actions, the MCU12 displays changes of vehicle speed and time.
