PURPOSE:To detect accurately polarization characteristics and evaluate stress corrosion cracks, by detecting electrolytic solution temperature and correcting measuring current, when a voltage is applied to a specimen electrode made of a metal to be measured in electrolytic solution. CONSTITUTION:Electrolytic solution 2 is admitted in an electrolytic cell 1, a specimen electrode 3 made of a metal to be measured, a counter electrode 4 and a reference electrode 5 are installed. Further, basing on the reference potential by the reference electrode 5, a potential is applied to the specimen electrode and a flowed current is detected. At this moment, temperature of the electrolytic solution 2 is measured with a thermometer 8. Further, temperature of the electrolytic solution is related to the current ratio (x) as shown in the graphical representation. Here, I stands for measuring current, Iex current value of the reference temperature T0 (298 deg.K). Further, corrected values of fluctuation of I by temperature are displayed 12 by a current correcting apparatus 11. Consequently, as the current values depending on the temperature of electrolytic solution are corrected by the reference current value, polarization characteristics can be detected accurately.
