PURPOSE:To improve the positioning accuracy of a magnetic head by attaching a guide rail which supports movably a carrier unified with the magnetic head closely to the bottom part of a case and at the same time giving higher rigidity to the guide rail than the case. CONSTITUTION:A guide rail 21 supports movably a mobile member 23 unified with a carrier 22 supporting a magnetic head via a steel ball 24. The center part in the lengthwise direction of the rail 21 is welded to a bottom plate 1 of a case 4 via a bolt 25. At the same time, the both end parts of the rail 21 are held by the plate 1 by means of an elastic bar 27 of a plate spring, etc. which is welded to the plate 1 via a bolt 26. The rail 21 can be freely expanded and contracted in the lengthwise direction with no distortion caused by heat since it is held at a point by the bolt 25. Furthermore, the rail 21 is free from the bend produced by the shift of the carrier 22 since it is attached closely to the plate 1 of the case 4. |
