NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is alkyl, cycloalkyl; X is alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, benzyl which may have methyl; when X is phenyl, the phenyl may include alkyl, cycloalkyl). EXAMPLE:(2-p-Toluenesulfonyl-3,6-dioxyterephthalic dicylohexyl ester. USE:An intermediate of a quinone which is used in pressure-sensitive copying material or thermally sensitive copying material. PREPARATION:The reaction between a quinone derivative of formula II and a sulfinic acid derivative of formula III is conducted in an aqueous organic solvent to give the compound of formula I. The compound of formula I gives a quinone of formula IV, when it is oxidized with an appropriate oxidizing agent. The compound of formula IV has markely large color-developing rate and shows high stability, thus it is a very useful color developer in the oxidation-reduction recording system. |
