USE:A lasting fragrance and flavor imparting agent or modifier having a floral note, a synthetic intermediate, cosmetic, health and hygienic agent, medicine, food and drink, table luxuries, etc. PROCESS:4,8-Dimethyl-1,7-nonadien-4-ol or 4,8-dimethyl-7-nonen-1-yn-4-ol expressed by formula II is subjected to the ring closure in the presence of an acidic catalyst. The compound expressed by formula I includes compounds expressed by formulas III and IV, and the compound expressed by formula III is obtained by catalytically reducing the compound expressed by formula IV with hydrogen in the presence of a reducing catalyst. |
