PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent an error caused by the interference of a multiple reflected wave, by calculating the horizontal distance between an acoustic apparatus having a depth recorder and a wave receiver from the slant range between the depth and sound source apparatus of the acoustic apparatus and the wave receiver. CONSTITUTION:A submarine ship 2 transmits an ultrasonic signal USS from a sound source by sending a transmission order signal S1 to the submarine ship 2 from a mother ship 1 through a cable 5 and said ultrasonic signal is received by a receiver array 6. The straight distance between the submarine ship 2 and the receiver array 6 is calculated by measuring the time ranging from the transmission of the signal S1 from the mother ship 1 to the arrival of the first signal USS. This distance R can be accurately measured without receiving the effect of multiple reflection. The submarine ship 2 has a pressure sensor for measuring depth other than the function for sending out the signal USS and the depth information D2 of the submarine ship 2 is ordered to the mother ship 1. Therefore, the horizontal distance HR1 between the submarine ship 2 and the array 6 is calculated from the slant range R, the depth D2 of the submarine ship 2 and the depth D1 of the receiver array 6. |
