PURPOSE:To enable constant charging without undergoing influence of environmental changes by detecting electrostatically charging current flowing through the body to be charged electrostatically and controlling alternating voltage to be applied between an induction electrode and a discharge electrode. CONSTITUTION:The induction electrode 2 and the discharge electrode 3 interposing a dielectric body 4 are driven with an alternating current supply source 7, and positive and negative ions are produced by discharge around the electrode 3. This electrode 3, etc., are connected with the body 5 to be charged through a bias power supply 8, and positive or negative ions are extracted with an electric field due to the bias voltage to charge the body 5. This charging current is detected with a detector 13, the frequency of the power supply 7, etc., are controlled with a control circuit 14, an amt. of produced ions charging in accordance with temp., etc., is controlled by feedback, and an amt. of charge is made constant, and as a result, constant charging unaffected by environmental changes can be carried out. |
