PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity and small residual potential, causing change in the characteristics even for repeated use, and having superior durability and being practically useful for a long wavelength light source by providing a photosensitive layer contg. a specified azo compd. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer is prepd. by adding an azo compd. expressed by the formula (wherein Z in a group of atoms necessary for forming a thiazole ring, benzothiazole ring, or naphthothiazole ring, which may be substituted) to the layer. By using the azo compd. as a photoelectric material for the formation of a photosensitive layer constituted of a single layer or in a charge generating layer of a function separating type sensitive body utilizing its superior carrier generating capacity alone, an electrophotographic sensitive body having superior electrophotographic characteristics such as film characteristics, charge retaining capacity, sensitivity, residual potential. etc. causing less deterioration due to fatigue during repeated use, being stable without causing change of above-described characteristics against heat or light and resulting superior durability, is provided. The sensitive body has, moreover, superior sensitivity for the light having 780nm wavelength. Therefore, it is useful also for a sensitive body of a printer using a semiconductor laser or a light emitting diode as light source. |
