NEW MATERIAL:A substituted triazine shown by the formula I or formula II. EXAMPLE:Tri(omega-methylguanyl)-s-triazine hydrochloride. USE:Useful as an intermediate for various syntheses, a drug, or an agricultural chemical. PREPARATION:Methyl dicyandiamide shown by the formula III is heated in the presence of an acid (e.g., HCl) in a solvent such as dimethylformamide, or phenol to give a compound shown by the formula I. The compound shown by the formula I thus obtained is reacted with an acid, and its amino group can be converted into a hydroxyl group. A compound shown by the formula II is obtained by reacting dimethyl dicyandiamide shown by the formula IV in the presence of an acid (e.g., HCl) in a solvent such as dimethylformamide, etc.
