PURPOSE:To decide easily the face of a disk and to contain securely disks in the same direction without operator's checking of the direction of a disk by containing disks in the same direction in a containing part by using either face as a reference based on disk readout information. CONSTITUTION:After an optical disk device 3 reads out provisionally disk information stored in its interior, on the basis of the readout information disk cassettes 10 are contained in a containing rack 15a or 15b in the same direction by a transporting device 14, using either face as a reference. As a result, containing work can be done without operator's checking of the direction of the disk cassette 10. Furthermore, since first the optical disk device 3 executes reading without fail, contents of data of the disk cassettes 10- contained in the containing racks 15a and 15b become more secure.
