PURPOSE:To obtain the frame of closed type compressor, simple in manufacturing and having a sufficient rigidity even it is miniaturized, by forming the frame from steel plate by press forming. CONSTITUTION:A frame 13 is formed from the strip of steel sheet by a press. The embossing work of first embossed section 14, ribs 15 and second embossed sections 16 is effected simultaneously with the forming of the frame. Further, third embossed section 17 and H-shape punching holes 18 are formed simultaneously. Subsequently, the flat plating form is bent and formed into C-shape and the frame 13 is completed. The first embossed section 14 is an annular protuberance for attaching a crankshaft. The ribs 15 are provided for the reinforcement of rigidity. The second embossed sections 16 are for attaching cylinders and the third embossed sections 17 are for attaching the stator of a motor.
