PURPOSE:To manufacture the magnetic head which has a magnetic core with superior saturation characteristics by forming an amorphous magnetic thin metallic film on base substrates by a sputtering method, working the base substrates in a specific shape, and setting the substrates in butting relation so that gap formation surfaces face each other. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic material layer 13 is interposed between a high- resitance base substrate 11 and an amorphous magnetic thin metallic film 12 to improve the adhesive strength between the base substrate 11 and amorphous magnetic thin metallic film 12, and a magnetic gap 14 and a magnetic core window 15 are provided. The thickness of the amorphous magnetic thin metallic film 12 corresponds to track width W and this thin film 12 has superior magnetic properties and good wear resistance. Then the amorphous magnetic thin metallic film 12 is formed on the base substrate 11 by sputtering, so the wear resistance against a tape slide is improve by both the substrate 11 and the thin film 12 and lamination is facilitated, so that the narrow-track head is manufactured with precision. |
