MEASURING INSTRUMENT OF CORPUSCLES DENSITY IN EXHAUST GAS OF INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To measure correctly within a short time by finding from the value correcting the increased part of the pressure loss before and after filtering and the effect of the front stage filtering thereof the quantities of dry soot and soluble organic matter collected respectively on two pcs. of filters of the inside of a sampling pipe. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas of an internal-combustion engine E is led to a sampling pipe 25 via a diluting tunnel 3 and heated by a coil heater 28 to separate the corpuscle in the gas to dry soot and soluble organic matter (SOF) and the dry soot is collected by a dry soot collecting filter 13 and the quantity of the dry soot is found by an arithmetic unit 6 from the differential value of the pressure difference detected by a diferential pressure convertor 54, the temp. signal of a temp. detector 12 and the flow signal from a sampling pump 16. The SOF quantity cooled by a pipe 18 for cooling and collected by an SOF collecting filter 15 is found from the value correcting the differential value of the differential pressure signal of a differential pressure convertor 55 to the value of the case of the pressure difference of the convertor 54 being zero, the temp. signal of a temp. detector 14 and the flow signal of the pump 16.
