PURPOSE:To improve the precision of ship position detection by providing a pair of an infrared-ray camera and an infrared-ray projection on a ship, and further providing a mechanism which detects the displacement of an object image and tracks the camera and a measuring mechanism for an angle of rotation in a horizontal plane which calculates the distane. CONSTITUTION:Pairs of infrared-ray cameras 1a-1d and projectors 5a and 5b are provided on the ship body S to photodetect infrared rays reflected from targets 13a and 13b, and a manual operation and automatic tracking selection switch for moving the infrared-ray cameras 1a-1d axially, a monitor television, etc., are provided. Further, measuring devices for angles of rotation of horizontal and vertical infrared-ray camera axes are fitted to the rotating mechanism, and detection signals are inputted to an automatic tracking controller to calculate the distance between the camera 1a and target 13a. Consequently, the ship position relative to a rockwall is detected automatically through the simple constitution with high precision and a ship position adjustment is automated.
