DRUM FOR OPTICAL FIBER GYRO

PURPOSE:To perform high-precision detection even in case of temperature varies by winding an optical fiber around the peripheral surface of the drum counterclockwise and clockwise in crossing relation about the lengthwise center of the optical fiber as a center. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 8 is wound around the peripheral surface of the cylindrical drum 9 counterclockwise as an optical fiber 8L and clockwise as an optical fiber 8R about the center 8C of the optical fiber 8. In this case, the optical fibers 8L and 8R cross each other about the center 8C of the optical fiber 8, and consequently a temperature distribution is lengthwise symmetrical about the center 8C to cancel each other even when the temperature distribution on the drum 9 is difference between the upper and lower part. Therefore, there is no drift of the angular rotating speed of the drum, so the optical fiber gyro with high precision is obtained.
