<p>Prodn. of 7-(opt.substd. amino) 3-methyl-3-cephem 4-carboxylic acid cpds. (I) is effected by heating the corresp. 6-(substd.amino) penicillanic acid sulphoxide cpd. (II) in the presence of an acidic substance (III) which causes expansion of the penam ring to a 3-cephem ring, and also in the presence of (a) an Si cpd. and sulphamide or (b) a silylsulphamide or silylsulphamoyl (sic.) - In subsidiary claims the starting material is a cpd. of formula (IIa) or (IV). R = alkylsilyl, alkyl or 2-5C acyl, R1 = H or an opt. substd. gp. bonded to N through a C or S atom; R2 = H or a 2-10C acid residue opt. contg. O,S or N; or NR1R2 = phthalimido, oxazolidinyl, imidazolidinyl, NCO, benzylideneamino or hydroxybenzylideneamino; R3 = a hydrolysable gp.</p> |
