PURPOSE:To remove high-concn. impurities to <= several ppm by using activated carbon having 15-30Angstrom maximum frequency pore diameter as an adsorbent for separating by adsorption impurities in a raw gas consisting essentially of CO and/or N2. CONSTITUTION:Activated carbon having 15-30Angstrom maximum frequency pore diameter is prepared from aplm shells or petroleum or coal pitch. Said activated carbon having 15-30Angstrom maximum frequency pore diameter is packed in an adsorption tower which is used for adsorption, separation, and removal, when high- concn. CO2, hydrocarbon, etc. coexistent in a raw gas consisting essentially of CO and/or nitrogen are adsorbed, separated, and removed by a pressure-variable adsorption-separation method. The maximum frequency pore diameters can be regulated by appropriately selecting the activation temp., retention time, and the kind and amt. of activating gas (gaseous CO2, steam, etc.). |
