The invention relates to the combustion of a fluid fuel such as pulverised coal in suspension in a flow of primary air in a turbulent burner, that is to say a burner in which the secondary air is set in rotation around the flow of primary air loaded with fuel. The invention provides the arrangement, in front of a hearth wall 3 to which this burner 1 is attached, of a chamber 9, which is firstly divergent 10 then cylindrical overall 11, in which the fuel and the associated gases are homogenised whilst remaining radially confined and guided along the axis X-X desired for the flame. <IMAGE>
