PURPOSE:To protect a person seated on a vehicle seat, more surely, by increasing the pressure in an air bag of a side support in association with the motion of the seated person upon occurrence of impact. CONSTITUTION:A side support 8 composed of an air bag 9 is provided in the back of a vehicle seat. An air pump 11 is attached to a bracket 10 fixed to a seat frame 5 for a seat cushion 2. The compressed air discharge outlet of the air pump 11 is connected to the air bag 9 through a check valve 12 by means of an air hose 13, and a pressure regulating valve is disposed in the intermediate part of the air hose 13. The air pump 11 is set in a storage hole 16 formed in a seat cushion pad 6 in the front section of the seat cushion 2.
