PURPOSE:To provide the titled steel stock which has a prolonged life by inhibiting the progress of corrosion starting from the point of failure of a coating film, by appling a paint compsn. consisting of a vehicle, metallic zinc powder and a metal salt of phosphoric or molybdic acid to the surface of steel stock. CONSTITUTION:A paint compsn. obtd. by dissolving 2-55wt% synthetic resin vehicle (e.g. acrylic or vinyl resin) in a solvent and homogeneously dispersing 40-97.5wt% metallic zinc powder and 0.5-20wt% at least one metal salt selected from among Mg, Ni, Al, Cr, Co, Mn and Ca salts of phosphoric or molybdic acid in the vehicle soln., is applied to the surface of steel stock optionally having a corrosion-resistant primary coating formed by subjecting steel to a corrosion-resistant Zn-plating treatment. The coated surface is dried to form a coating film of 0.5-20mum in thickness.
